On Saturday 5 November 2011, in true Century Property Developments style, over 2000 people enjoyed Guy Fawkes Day with a uniquely South African twist. “Picnic under the African Sky” was the theme and the newly completed Waterfall Clubhouse, located on Waterfall Country Village, was the venue. With a more sensitive approach towards the environment and the animals that live in it, it was decided not to use traditional fireworks. Instead hundreds of message lanterns were released, each bearing the hopes and dreams of the families that attended the event. The night sky was breath-taking with a trail of hundreds of glowing message lanterns – gracious and quiet.

Children were entertained around a large campfire by a traditional African story teller, before they used the opportunity to roast some marshmallows. Adults were entertained by the sounds of traditional Marimba’s as well as a group of fire dancers. Gallons of free hot chocolate were enjoyed whilst complimentary hand massages and African face-painting set the tone for the evening. Visitors packed picnic baskets, braai’s, blankets and camping chairs and enjoyed a spectacular sunset on the embankments of Waterfall Lake. “We envisaged a new responsible and uniquely South African tradition on this year’s Guy Fawkes Day, by having no fireworks. Instead we opted for hundreds of message lanterns carried away in the African night sky.” says Dan Brown from Century. “We’d like to think of it as a day to signify unity and giving thanks for family.”
Century Property Developments would like to thank everyone that attended, especially those who donated toys and other items. These are much needed gifts that will be distributed among the charities that Century supports during the festive season. If you forgot to bring your donation or would like to contribute more, you may drop the items off at our Waterfall Sales Office which is open 09h00-17h00 daily. Click here to see where your gifts went last year when we visited New Jerusalem Children's Home in Midrand.
Johannesburg's biggest cycle race, the Momentum 94.7, drew 25 000 riders to the City of Gold on Sunday. Again Waterfall hosted the finish venue in its spectacular open expanses. Century Property Developments invited its clients and loyal pre-launch members to an exclusive VIP which provided first-class views of the finish of the event. With snacks and refreshments served, guests were treated to another world class event in what is arguably South Africa's greatest residential development. The previous weekend saw both the kiddies race as well as the MTB race hosted at the estate's clubhouse overlooking the impressive Waterfall Dam. Over 6000 attendees were spoilt with perfect sunny weather and rolling green picnic lawns, perfect for the family environment envisaged.
Many Waterfall investors have expressed their excitement at the announcement that Reddam House will be operating the private school in Waterfall. It is not often that you find Graeme Crawford, founder of Reddam House and Crawford Colleges, socialising on a dusty construction site. But when it comes to breaking ground on his latest venture, Reddam House Waterfall, he was willing to place his manic schedule on hold and welcome the first construction vehicles on site. On 23 June 2011, together with Mark Corbett CEO of Century Property Developments, Graeme cut a ribbon which officially opened the site for earthworks.

Reddam House was chosen because of its well-balanced teaching methods, catering for a diverse range of academic, cultural and sporting interests. This is an international award-winning school brand that is achieving amazing results within South Africa and abroad. Reddam House is a collection of co-educational, non-denominational, independent schools known to stimulate students to learn in a relaxed, self-disciplined environment. “Reddam House has a proven track record of exceptional teachers, students and results. We at Century Property Developments feel that they express exactly what we would want for our own children” states Mark Corbett.
In general, Reddam House Waterfall will be available for infants from 6 months upwards to students from Pre 000 to Grade 12. This includes Pre-Primary (ages 3 - 6), Preparatory (Grades 1 - 7) and College (Grades 8 -12).This prestigious institution will open its doors for the first semester in January 2012. The ground breaking of phase one commenced on 23 June 2011. Phase 2 and 3 will be started early in 2012 and overall completion of the school is planned for February 2013. In the mean time, the administration offices of Reddam House Waterfall have been flooded with the first registrations. Their offices have been opened in the Waterfall Country Estate Sales Office. The school will be open to the general public, but residents and homeowners of Waterfall Country Estate will enjoy preference. The teacher-student ratio of Reddam House Waterfall will be about 10 students to 1 teacher. It is envisaged that there will be no more than 25 students per class room and no more than 1600 children in the school itself.
- South African Lipizzaners at Waterfall
Saturday June 16th 2011
Youth Day was celebrated on 16 June 2011 and over 2500 visitors descended onto Waterfall to witness the dance of the white stallion. Picnic baskets, umbrellas, camping chairs and blankets were used during this perfect winter’s afternoon.

Lipizzaner horses are characterised by a perfect and noble physique, graceful movements, the ability to learn, liveliness, good nature, courage, toughness and stamina. In appearance they resemble in every respect the typical baroque show and parade horses. It is easy to see why the unique harmony of horse and rider achieved here is famous all over the world. Dan Brown from Century Property Developments welcomed the masses and reiterated that this popular event will become an annual institution – following the success in 2010 at Waterfall Equestrian Estate. This year, the horses presented a show with a unique African theme to the beats of Mango Groove and other traditional songs. Over five thousand cups of complimentary hot chocolate were consumed during this mesmerising performance.

As this organisation is largely dependant on donations to feed and care for these horses, it was heart warming to see the overwhelming response to a request for any cash donations. Once formalities were over, children were invited to feed carrots to the white horses and to get a closer look at these beautiful creatures. This notion was embraced by all and turned out to be the perfect choice of entertainment for Youth Day.
- Waterfall Green Design Centre Opening
Saturday May 25th 2011
Many celebrities and green gurus were spotted at the much anticipated launch of the Waterfall Green Design Centre which was held on Wednesday, 25 May 2011. The event celebrated the opening of Gauteng’s very first Green Design Centre, which will act as a resource hub for the general public as well as the thousands of homeowners that are about to embark on a construction journey at Waterfall.

“We find that it is easier to implement green innovation from the beginning, than what it is to retrofit an existing dwelling. By implementing some of the innovations on show at our Green Design Centre, the average homeowner will be able to reduce their house’s carbon footprint by at least 40%” said Mark Corbett, CEO of Century Property Developments. Organic champagne flowed a plenty as visitors were welcomed by Juliet Newell of Décor Made Easy, an informative design and decorating programme on The Home Channel. Exhibitors at the green Design Centre were all present and proud to have passed the strict green criteria as set out by Decorex SA, whom will be managing and operating the centre on Century’s behalf. Each visitor was asked to hang a card on a wire tree, each of which represents a tree that Century Property Developments will plant in rural areas.

The Green Design Centre is open Tuesday to Friday from 09h00 to 16h30 and weekends from 09h00 until 17h00. All exhibitors have representatives at their stands on the weekends. The centre has already demonstrated innovation through presenting a course on “How to Green your home”. The course includes valuable tips on guiding your builder and architect, understanding passive design, when to apply technology, building techniques, design and material selections, cost comparisons to standard building practices, energy efficiency and much more. They strive to provide homeowners with a better understanding on how to live more consciously, comfortably and to save money in the process. Their first course was held on Saturday 9th July 2011 from 09h00 to 16h30 and costs R750 per person. To book your seat in the next session, contact Lauren on 082 604 5909. A course schedule will be available shortly, so if you can’t make this one, let them know if you are interested so they can keep you posted.
- Royal Canin Dog Day 2011
Saturday May 15th 2011
With close to 50 tons of food, 80 cases of wet food, literally hundreds of blankets and accessories donated to animal charities – it is safe to say that the 2011 Royal Canin Dog Day was a massive success. This annual event took place on Sunday, 15 May 2011 at Waterfall Country Estate, where man’s best friend enjoyed a leisurely walk in the countryside.

Both mutt and man were faced with a choice between a seven hundred meter puppy parade, a four kilometre walk and an eight kilometre walk. This year’s event saw an increase in popularity with record-breaking entrees. Radio celebrity, author and chef - Jeremy Mansfield and his wife Jacqui, were the official patrons for the event and enjoyed walking their own dogs on the day. All finishers received goodie bags, but we believe it was their contribution to charity that really made them smile… good boy! www.dogdayonline.co.za
Packed picnic lunches, rubber dingi's and sunblock were the order of the day as over 600 families and guests of Waterfall purchasers descended upon the magnificent banks of the new dam located in Waterfall Country Village. Attendees were welcomed by brilliant sunshine and a multitude of activities for the kids ranging from face painters, slip and slides, pony rides and candy floss to even a surprise visit from Santa on a loader bearing gifts for everyone.
We would like to thank all who bought along gifts for our charity, New Jerusalem house, an orphanage situated in Midrand. The gifts where handed over to truly excited and unsuspecting children at the orphanage on the 7th of December. Santa arrived on his Harley assisted by his elves and gifts were distributed, a simple gesture that made a huge difference in the lives of these special children, and a great day was had by all. We would like to once again thank all the families that bought along gifts and made Christmas a little more special for these children. Click here to see the pictures taken on the day.
Cyclists and spectators were welcomed by sunny weather at the Waterfall Country Estate, host of the finish venue for this famous stage race. Infrastructure of the estate is nearing completion and is proving to be the ideal outdoor venue.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us for the Royal Canin Dog Day on Sunday 9 May 2010 at Waterfall Country Estate. We had a great turnout of Dogs and their human companions. We had every breed, size and colour imaginable. We had dogs from the tiniest Chihuahuas and Miniature Yorkies to teams of giant Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds. Your entry fee meant that we could share nearly R12 000.00 amongst all the charities who joined us on the day. We also collected in the Dog Bowl hundreds of kilo’s of pet food, blankets, newspapers, leads, bowls and toys and received some very grateful and tearful thank yous’.
We would like to thank Century Property Developments and the staff of Waterfall Country Estate, especially Juan Mohr, for all of their support and help to make sure that your country walk was safe and hassle free. Our wonderful Off Road Rescue Unit team helped to ensure there was plenty of water at the water points and made your day safe from behind the scenes. We also had wonderful medics from MMC and a great team of vets who made sure everyone was attended to quickly and professionally. To all we want to extend a HUGE thank you and we look forward to seeing you in 2011.
Sultry jazz music, gushing waterfalls and the perfect weather were some of the ingredients that made our riverside picnic a major success. On Saturday, 5 December 2009, purchasers of Waterfall Country Estate/Village shared a glimpse of their future lifestyle within the estate. Children were entertained by stilt walkers, face painters, candy floss and jumping castles whilst their parents dined in true picnic fashion. Each guest received a food hamper and blanket which they put to good use underneath the colossal branches of the ancient River Bushwillow trees that are common alongside the riverbanks. The cool sounds of the Jazz Assassins, a five piece old school jazz band, entertained guests with a playlist including old favourites such as Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublè. Guests used this occasion to become more familiar with their future neighbours whilst lounging the afternoon away in dappled sunlight...
Thank you to all our loyal friends who shared this special day with us. We look forward to spending many more afternoons with you along the scenic embankments of Waterfall Country Estate/Village.
A sunny warm weekend welcomed cyclists at Waterfall Country Estate which once again played host to the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge, MTB Challenge and Kids Challenge by providing the start / finish venue. Over 30 000 people were treated by the beautiful surrounds of the new development which is soon to be the most exclusive residential estate in Gauteng.
