The area surrounding Helderfontein in the northern suburbs is being billed as the next Rosebank or Sandton, and with good reason. Blink, and you could easily miss what is happening in this neck of the woods. Blink twice, and you could miss out on one of the best property opportunities to present itself in years – Helderfontein Estate.
Here's a brief summary of some of the major developments in the area:

The upgrade of the William Nicol Road is well underway and on target for completion by early 2013. This four-lane route will alleviate the known traffic congestion in the area.

The 700 hectare Steyn City currently being developed North of Dainfern and Helderfontein. The total mixed use development will incorporate retail, residential, office and recreation.

Astute commuters on William Nicol will also have observed the work underway on a regional shopping centre, opposite Helderfontein Estate. In conjunction with retail and office facilities planned at Helderfontein and Steyn City, a new urban hub is being created in the area.

Undoubtedly, the most eye-catching of these developments is Helderfontein Estate by Century Property Developments. This 240 hectare residential development offers stands ranging from 700 - 1700m² in size and combines the convenience of urban living in a unique country environment. Such was the success of Phase 1, that Phase 2 was launched shortly thereafter, adding a further 100 stands to the stable. Phase 3 has recently been launched offering stands from R855,000 (see layout, pricing and availability).
This truly is your opportunity to build your dream home in a secure country estate.

“Helderfontein is a thoroughly unique development,” says sales consultant, Nick Crow. “For those with a love of the great outdoors, Helderfontein offers an unrivalled selection of activities. 12km of walking and mountain bike trails within the nature reserve, parklands, bird hides, sporting activities such as a world class gym in the new clubhouse, tennis, a climbing wall, swimming pool, a volleyball court and large dams for non-motorised watersport. Virtually every imaginable type of outdoor activity will be accommodated at the estate, for children and adults alike. We also have what is reckoned to be the largest variety of bird life per square kilometre in the entirety of Johannesburg.” Along with state-of-the-art security, this family orientated lifestyle makes for the ideal living environment in the bustling northern suburbs.
“If you look at the sheer scale and number of developments that are underway in the Helderfontein area, it is clear where the focus of activity in the greater Johannesburg is shifting.” says Nick Crow.

“I don't think it has dawned on residents of Johannesburg yet just how significant this scale of development is.”
Taking a five year view, Crow says Helderfontein offers buyers a unique, ground floor entry into one of the most exciting developments seen in the greater Johannesburg area. Property values in the area have already seen marked increases and this pattern is set to continue.

Century Property Developments' landscaping team is on the verge of completing the responsible rehabilitation of the parklands, attenuation dams and greenbelts sprawled around phase 1. Indigenous landscaping and established trees populate the 80 hectares of parklands, walking trails and kids play areas that host impromptu family outings on weekends. The abundance of bird life owes much to the range and selection of indigenous trees on the estate, from Wild Olives to White Stinkwood and River Bushwillows.

Fifteen homes have now broken ground at Helderfontein Estate, with several more home designs being approved by the Aesthetics Committee each week. The designs are true to the Highveld Vernacular style which has become a signature of Century Property Developments.
According to Dan Brown, sales executive at Century Property Developments, the Highveld Vernacular theme is both modern and timeless in appearance. “It uses natural materials and passive design elements to optimise energy efficiency, while at the same time remaining attractive and natural in a Highveld setting.”
